Kaitlyn Kerstetter
Kaitlyn currently lives in Rowlett, Texas. She grew up in Plano attending Aldridge Elementary,
Wilson Middle School, Vines High School, and Plano Senior High School. She participated in the
Vines High School Drumline in the snare line, and in both the snare line and front ensemble
during her time at Plano Senior High School.
She graduated from Plano Senior High School in 2011 and went on to
Evangel University in
Springfield, Missouri to receive her Bachelors in Music Education in 2015.
During her time in Missouri, she made trips during the summer to Ho Chi Minh City,
Vietnam and played drums for a local worship group.
After moving back to Plano in 2016, Kaitlyn was hired as a private lesson teacher in
Plano ISD and has been teaching for four years. She also currently teaches as a percussion
teaching artist in the
Dallas Symphony Young Musicians Program in Dallas ISD.
In the fall of 2018, Kaitlyn began her Masters in Percussion Performance at
Southern
Methodist University and will be finishing in May, 2020. She has performed with the
Plano
Community Band, played in various Plano Senior High School's musicals as a pit percussionist,
and performed with local church groups as a concert percussionist. She’s had the pleasure
of performing with Meadows Symphony Orchestra
at the Winspear Opera House and Meyerson
Symphony Center for the past two years, and is looking forward to graduating in May, 2020.
Besides pursuing her musical endeavors, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her nieces and
nephews, travelling around the world, and training for triathlons. She plans to continue
performing in the Dallas area and pursue auditions as a concert percussionist as well as
teaching opportunities at the university level.
